How can I find a church where I will feel welcome?

Many churches today welcome LGBTQ people, but it can still be difficult to find what you’re looking for, depending on your denomination, theology, and options in your area.

If you’re in the U.S., a good place to start is our Community listings, which includes thousands of churches across the country that have been identified to us as welcoming LGBTQ people.

Of course, just because a church is identified as welcoming doesn’t mean it’s a good fit for you, so we recommend reading their profile (if they’ve filled it out) and/or contacting them directly to learn more about their theological beliefs, worship style, and other things you might want to know before visiting.

Even if you can’t find a welcoming church near you right now, the Community listings include thousands of churches that stream their services or post sermons online, as well as online communities where you can get Christian fellowship.

We know there’s no substitute for local, in-person Christian community, though. So if you’re not finding it where you are, is it possible God is prompting you to be the one to start something? Let us know if so! We would love to feature your new local Bible study or Christian social gathering on our website and help others find you.

Our site is currently in beta, and we continue to add new questions, answers, and viewpoints, so check back soon for more!
