The terms “Side A” and “Side B” are often used to describe Christian views on same-sex marriage. They were developed by a 1990s organization called Bridges Across the Divide, where people on both the “affirming” and “non-affirming” sides agreed to dialogue with each other, and decided to use the terms “A” and “B” to describe the two views.
“Side A” (affirming) Christians believe that God blesses same-sex marriage.
“Side B” (non-affirming) Christians believe that God does not allow for same-sex marriage.*
* A note: In recent years, some groups have used slightly different definitions, so we’ve largely avoided the “Side A/B” terminology on this site to avoid confusion. It is still used in many Christian discussions on the topic, though.
