In the past, it sometimes meant “questioning,” but today, it generally means “queer.”
The use of “queer” as an umbrella term is still hotly debated within the LGBT+ community. Some people strongly object to it and find it offensive, partly (but not only) because of its long history as a slur and othering word. Others find it liberating and say it helps them feel included in a way the other letters don’t.
